Is part of the Universal Green Movement is to make prices go up?

In my City we had a plastic bag ban so now people have to scramble to try to get their groceries how ever they can. In all the mess and confusion people can just walk out without even paying. I had to tell the clerk not to forget to check the solar lights she forgot to count in all the chaos (oh the irony). So besides adjustmetns the green movement wants you to drive less so its no wonder gas prices are going up without a fight. In case you forgot, the last time prices went up we dropped into a recession. This time around it might just be worse.
