Need help about problems with friends because they ditch me often.?

My best friend has been a douche bag to me lately. The most recent problem was when he lied about having another person picking me up to go hang out together. I got ready and waited, and then I found out that they ditched me. Should I get mad or let it it go? I feel like beating him as of now. I have been friends with him since kindergarten.
